What Members Say
“The way I see it, there's nothing unique about Unitarians. Our core beliefs centre on a set of principles that probably you, and many Canadians, endorse. ”
“Perhaps there is some uniqueness in our respect for people's beliefs about the ‘unknown’ – divinity, creation, after-life – if, along with their beliefs, they share and try and honour the core Unitarian principles in their daily lives.”
“…and to top it all off, we have a lot of fun, fellowship is real and people really care about each other.”
Visit us, and you will find we are a friendly group of about 100 individuals, with a strong sense of community built up during our 10-year history. You may feel some of our excitement about building something precious and powerful. You will be welcomed to join us in whatever catches your interest.
Our sense of community includes newcomers and the broader world. We want to understand different cultures, religions and life experiences, and find our place as responsible actors in the global community.
Despite many changes in our 10 years – new facilities, new ministers and new members – some things about us have not changed:
-
We value being an intergenerational group. Our children and young people play an active part in our community.
-
We value and support lay-leadership. Together with our part-time minister, our members share responsibility for the health and well-being of our community.
-
We are committed to finding ways to express our principles of compassion and social justice in words and actions.
If you want to know more about us, visit us on a Sunday morning and join us for coffee after the service. Or, visit a blog kept by one or our members at: http://uufo.blogspot.com/. Send us an email if you would like more information.
